African organics and the development vs environment dillemma

Last week the government launched a new fund to support increased trade in organic produce from African farmers. This is great for development, but it does come in the middle of a difficult debate about whether food that is shipped across the world can be labelled organic. How do we balance the needs of development with care for the environment? I think the Soil Association have come up with an elegant solution…
