The Do Less Campaign

idleThe Idler have a new campaign: Do Less in 2009.

The gist of it is to do less of everything, for the environment and for ourselves. Less work, less earning and spending, less shopping.  Less doing will leave more time for being.

“The era which privileged the busy high achiever is coming to an end” says Tom Hodgkinson. “That system has been found wanting, and there is a new world out there, a world of more fun, more freedom, more time for reflection and contemplation, community and cooking, making and mending.”

In true Idler style, the campaign will advance with an ambitious schedule of nothing at all, although you may be able to buy a t-shirt.

Amen. I’ve been an inactive supporter of the DO Less movement for a long time myself.

Hey, Bean. Very refreshing post. Of course there is a lot of irony in this, i.e. how much work does this campaign require?
Much to be said on this subject, though, and how we are called to rest and reflect yet often seem to move at such fast pace.
