take the 10:10 challenge

This week sees the launch of a new climate change campaign, 10:10. It’s the brainchild of Franny Armstrong, the director of The Age of Stupid, and the concept is simple: reduce your carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.

10% is an achievable target for most of us as individuals, and it’s not beyond most organisations or companies either. The challenge has already been taken up by several councils, by schools and hospitals, charities and workplaces. If enough people set themselves the target, it could end up being an official nationwide pledge, and something the government can formalise at Copenhagen in December.

In the spirit of the much-copied Make Poverty History wristband, 10:10 has devised a tag, made from a melted down jumbo jet. Pretty nifty. To take the pledge yourself, or to commit your organisation, just visit the website and join the growing movement.
