What we learned this week

  • Just one of the 177 republicans in the US House of Representatives voted in favour of the Obama administration’s healthcare bill. That one is Joseph Cao, a Vietnamese American from Louisiana. Well done sir.
  • The rate of deforestation in Brazil has dropped by 45% between 2008 and 2009, which is good news.
  • Opposition to electric cars has emerged from an unexpected source – the blind. Apparently they are too silent, and manufacturers are working on making them a little noisier.
