Hi there … Alastair Mcintosh here … just hit on this by accident … thanks for such an insightful review (though it was Lewis, not Harris, that I was raised on, though they are confusingly the same island!). You’ve really hit the nail on the head with your concluding comment about who this book is not for. It chimes in with a debate I’ve been having with a group of scholars about essentialism, and how for some scholars my work simply occupies a “different universe of discourse” that, to them, as you say, is a metaphysical flight of fancy. But for me … give us more such flighs … grounded elementally in fire, air, earth and water, and underpinned by the Spirit.
