What we learned this week

  • “Would a city of a quarter of a million people be the obvious choice for the site of a military nuclear facility?” An entirely sensible question from the Ecologist, given that Plymouth is apparently just such a place.
  • The updated edition of Tim Harford’s rather good The Undercover Economist includes a chapter on the financial crisis, which is available free here.

I highly recommend Susan Cain’s book, Quiet. We do suffer, as a society, from a focus on extroversion, in schools, workplaces and elsewhere in society. Susan Cain really makes the case for taking notice of introverts needs, not only to the introverted individuals, but also to companies who are employ (or at least should employ) introverted staff, as well as to society as a whole.

Thanks Simeon, I’ll look out for the book.
