Start your own plastic workshop

A couple of years ago I wrote about PhoneBloks, a modular concept for a mobile phone that the internet got quite excited about. It’s actually been quite an influential idea, and several phone companies have taken the concept on board. One of them was Fairphone, which deliberately incorporated modular elements. LG has a modular phone, and others are on the way.

Good work Dave Hakkens, maker and designer from the Netherlands. He has a new project around plastics. Because he asked nicely at the end of the video, I’m sharing it here:

What I particularly like about this is that it combines upcycling with appropriate technology. The idea is that anybody can make these machines anywhere in the world, and set up an environmentally useful business.
