What we learned this week

  • Sainsbury’s are to use ‘kinetic plates’ to help power a supermarket, in an experimental form of alternative energy generation. As cars drive over the plates, a gentle rocking motion will generate electricity to help power the checkouts. Highly creative, but a shame it requires a car to work it – and that car journey will use 4,000 times more power than the kinetic plates will save.
